Jack Ellis, 83, retired city employee, died at 2:35 a.m. Sunday at his home, 502 allen St. He had been ill 3 months. A native of Montgomery County, he was born April 8, 1883 to Boaz and Ellen Peveler Ellis. He was married in 1914 to Opal Largent who died in 1963. Mr. Ellis was a brick plant worker for years, then was employed by the city sanitation department until his retirement 10 years ago. He attended the Calvary Tabernacle Church and belonged to the Fathers of VFW. Funeral services are set for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home where friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday. Rev. Lester Wright will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. - kbz
